While they are absolutely gorgeous, they are perfect in every way except size! They were over an inch too big for our little one so I would suggest you go down a size smaller or larger. (We ordered 3.5-4.5 for a 10 month old for reference.) Trust me you will want them to fit. The length of the shoe itself in this size is 5 inches - see photo. This item requires a size chart, without it's just a guess! You can google the 'how to' size chart if needed - I understand wanting to size up and give you a little comfort as babies and toddlers outgrow everything so quickly! But don't do that to them - it defeats the purpose! To satisfy the need for balance, protection, support and stability. neat and right size is a must! If not, don't stay. and your baby will trip over his feet. Trust me on that! The idea of a simple approach to baby booties is amazing! Literally no laces, buckles, clips. A lifeline in both the realms of disappointment and time! When fitted snugly they provide amazing stability and support for any child as they prepare to stand, waddle and walk - it's so great and reduces bumps/falls! They have a thin and flexible rubber sole. In any case, they are NOT heavy and bulky (the truth is, they weigh next to nothing!) Better yet, they protect little feet when walking outdoors or in the playground. such a HUGE bonus! Although they can be worn in winter... They are not winterized/waterproof - they are best suited for all seasons indoors and any dry weather outdoors. No! Although similar in style to water socks... They're not just for swimming (water socks usually have a thinner built-in sole, and the body is made of neoprene to enclose the foot and stay in the water like a wetsuit!). are made from a beautiful, strong and durable material, and the fins provide ventilation and provide breathable comfort for those little feet when worn. Can be used with or without socks depending on personal preference. *As the child grows. this style is perfect to give independence as the child can learn to put the shoes on by themselves! Overall - love the concept of this kids shoe! For less than $15, they're a lifesaver for any parent who needs a bit of footwear! I only deducted 1 star because of the size.
