Inexpensive power supply for non-critical applications

This is a simple switching power supply with no decorations like fans or surge protectors. This is the protection of the rectified line from the fuse side with switching topology. Everything you would expect in this price range. The design is minimalist, it only has the bare essentials to get the job done, which is normal for the price. Made in China with non-premium components (no Sprague, Dale or Ohmite here), Dongbaohe 100uF 450V line capacitor with 5 x 1000uF 16V WCO brand final DC filtering. While minimalist, it's well executed and has a good build quality. Soldering is a well-done automated job with lots of solder on all pins. Permanent stress cracks should not be a problem, as is often the case with some power supplies of this type. I wouldn't use it in industrial or critical applications, or use it to power devices that could be damaged by over-voltage or excessive noise, but for hobby, retail, LED lighting, or experimental use it should work fine. The power supply was set to 5.02V out of the box and holds the output well even under load. Under heavy loads it emits a moderate amount of heat without worrying about overheating as long as it has good airflow. I would mount it vertically if possible to take advantage of convection. Derating is recommended when installed in an enclosure with restricted airflow. Adding a 5V fan would be a nice improvement, as would additional output filtering and output fuse. All of this could be done quite economically. It's really good value for this niche and I plan to have at least one on the shelf for when I need a quick fix for a 5V power supply.
