After using the Sennheiser MKE-200 microphone on my Sony a6400 for two days I was overwhelmed and at times downright disappointed. Especially since the Sennheiser MKE-400 (which I've been using for many years) is a fantastic microphone. You would think that a reputable company like Sennheiser would make a better product even for a budget microphone. The biggest problem is that the MKE-200 is just a cardioid mic encased in a mini airship-like plastic windshield, it's not a dedicated shotgun. Microphone, like the MKE-400. Results range from poor to useless. If you move the camera even a little bit, the MKE-200's sensitivity picks up every tiny bump, click, jerk, rumble and jingle imaginable and amplifies the rumble like a drunk, dissonant orchestra. The sound in front of the mic seems clearer when I hold the camera (and mic) still, but to be honest I didn't hear any noticeable difference between the MKE-200 and the Sony a6400's built-in mic. . So if you mount this mic on a stationary blogging camera, it can maybe improve the sound quality by half a step. But for a hundred bucks, this mic should do better. I would recommend skipping it and getting the Sennheiser MKE-400 instead. This is a true gun mic that works great in its price range.
