I'm a sound engineer with high quality recording gear and expensive mixing headphones, but I've always liked Sony headphones for everyday listening at a price that's low enough I don't have that much to worry about to cause damage or loss. They have about the same sound quality as the MDREX models I've bought and with a few tweaks I have great sound and a comfortable seating position. First, get Comply T200 memory foam ear tips, they isolate sound much better and improve bass response without the need to buy additional bass headphones (which I always stay away from). The low frequencies in these headphones are definitely audible, so I don't see the need for extra bass, I prefer a balanced response. Another trick I did was to put a little sliding Velcro around the two wires, which really helps to keep them from slipping off your shoulders or sticking out and catching on something. You just slide them all the way down and they fit easily over your head, and then slide them back under your chin to keep them in place. It would be nice if Sony added this feature, but so far it's working great.
