I bought this as a basic, low bandwidth hotspot (connecting to my existing router with a cable and spreading the Wi-Fi signal over a longer distance). This works for that, but requires meaningless, annoying, and arbitrary password rules (e.g. every wireless device accessing your network to guess a new password that meets their stupid rules. I haven't found a way to bypass the rules. The UI is quite fine for a very simple installation; the only documentation is a quick start guide that only covers using this regular wifi router. THERE IS NO HELP, including the website, on how to set it up as a hotspot (although it's not hard if you have experience with networking - except stupid password rules). If you need something like port forwarding, firewall settings, dynamic DNS settings, access filters, or anything other than a simple access password and setting the router's IP address, forget it gives no error checking in the web interface (except for the specified password rules), hence you may need to factory reset your router to fix configuration issues. I can't say anything about the performance yet. I'm still blown away by the poor setup experience. In short: simple, simple, simple, and it imposes some #$!*&@ password rules that can ruin your day.
