Because the glasses ask for glasses, I usually last 2-3 months with a pair. Used to get similar readers locally for a reasonable price. Now the price has skyrocketed and the size of the lenses is getting smaller. These aviators hold up to abuse fairly well and they are very good when new and the lenses are a good size for me. I can't find a better price for what I'm getting and have already bought several pairs so I always have a spare set in stock. I tried a really high quality pair once and they did for about a month until one day I forgot I had them in my back pocket. I've also tried the glass case route, but it all requires error. Now I'm selling cheap. I have a new pair right at the table and the next old pair can be carried around. If you can't read without glasses, this is the only way.
