That's old-fashioned. I tested a cheaper alternative, but employees have complained about the scan's performance. I use this scanner for Quickbooks POS 2013/V11. They are small computers that can be programmed to do many things. For Quickbooks POS you need to program it to 1) add the [Enter] key after scanning or it just scans the barcode and the cursor stays on the same line and 2) program it to use the interval 2 of 5 Barcodes Reads (I 2 of 5 ) generates the type of barcodes printed on Quickbooks POS price tags based on the internal item number. Step 1 is easy. You simply scan the three barcodes in the supplied quick start guide. It's easy to find on the internet, search "Motorola Symbol LS2208 Quick Start Guide". Step 2 is easy if you find the right page in the 300+ page online manual. If this link doesn't work, search for "LS2208 Interval 2 of 5 Any Length". I spent an hour searching Motorola's online manual.
