Old and New Tiva Universal Wedge Sandals

Let me start by saying that I bought a pair of these 10 years ago and the left one is in the photos (and I still wear this pair) . I bought this pair for $20 at the end of the summer sale. I was looking for another pair and thought the old ones might not last forever but they might prove me wrong. I noticed others here and grabbed them, but paid significantly more for them - $59.95. While I'm glad I have another pair, there are some differences that really stand out and that's why I'm giving this 3 stars instead of the 5 stars I would give a pair like my old ones.1. Belt 1/8 inch smaller2. Connection triangles are 3/8 inch smaller3. The old ones were about the same sole thickness as these new ones but didn't have a hard top or bottom which allowed my foot to sink into the sole and conform to my foot. (Obviously the old ones were affected by gravity and wear and tear.)4. Firmer upper and lower soles allow your foot to slide over the top and reduce traction. The new soles have a slightly different shape, so while the length is perfect, the small toe box (on the outside) flexes more quickly on the new pair, causing the straps to dig in a little more than the old ones to wrap your foot to keep flush with the sole. . The pinky toe mesh connecting triangle is closer to the sole than the old pair, which allows the edge of the triangular base to rest on the side of your toe rather than the top. Just not as comfortable as the old pair. Conclusion: NEW ORIGINAL are not very ORIGINAL. I guess I'll have to start looking at thrift stores.
