DO NOT buy this fan or rely solely on this review, search the internet for other people's experiences before purchasing. I bought this fan in 2014, installed it and it was the quietest fan I have ever had. At the beginning of summer 2015 we launched a fan and changed something. The fan twitched, hummed loudly, did not keep a constant speed, was basically unusable. When I contacted Casablanca, I was short of 30 days of the one-year electronic parts warranty, but was told I had a "limited" lifetime warranty on the DC motor. At that time I decided to buy a remote receiver unit ($80) on top of the fan, which is also involved in speed control for the DC fan. This seemed like the likeliest suspect due to power surges and thunderstorms that hit during the winter. The remote control receiver did not fix the problem. I contacted Casablanca again and tried to get a DC motor. They wouldn't sell it to me. Casablanca recommended 2 service providers within 60 miles of my house who could get the motor and fix this fan. When I contacted authorized service centers, they were people working from home and not very willing to help me. They did not support a lifetime engine warranty and required full payment to order the engine. After $550 I threw this fan in the trash and bought another manufacturer. Now I can get $1100 for a working ceiling fan in my master bedroom. Do NOT buy Casablanca DC fan, as many other people on the internet will testify, the speed detection circuit will fail, Casablanca customer representatives are rude, will not help you, the Casablanca motor lifetime warranty is in writing only , you never If the claim is not met, always buy a product from another manufacturer. Just check with another manufacturer first so you don't have to spend $1100 and time writing this review.
