The product works great and can be a good night light/gift. Since the manual doesn't help, I'll give it to you directly. You need to charge it for 2-4 hours to fully charge it, it will change color from pale red to pale blue. Although you can still use it while charging. You'll know it's on when you can clearly see the light in a well-lit room. You can turn it on by pressing the ON/OFF button on the bottom of the ball or simply press the ON button on the remote control. Turning it off is the same, except you have to hold down the button at the bottom of the orb. The remote control is already supplied with a battery. If you have a defective device, the seller will be happy to help you fix the situation, be it a refund or a replacement. Overall a good product and experience as I had to return my device. I would recommend buying one and can buy another as a separate gift.
