Before we bought a kettle that looked like glass. But that's not the case. There's something about a clear glass teapot that makes drinking a lot more comfortable than a plastic one that you can't see into. . And you may, albeit wrongly, think that plastic doesn't heat up well. It really doesn't matter if it is or not. When you think about it, it's just bad, really. This thing comes with a base that works well too. It snaps into place so you know it fits properly. This is an underrated feature compared to others. It's easy not to click if there's no audible click and fullness. The blue light is also a nice bonus. It doesn't take up much space and works very quickly. I haven't noticed any downsides yet. We've been using it for a month now and use it every day.
