About six weeks ago my pickiest cat, Squirl, decided he hated the food he had been eating for over 10 years - I think the manufacturer changed the recipe because it was thinner and had less meat . He continued to eat his favorite treats, but we gave him over a dozen different premium canned foods and he didn't eat them. He only tried two. He lost over five pounds (okay, he was a whopping 15 to start with) and we were starting to get frustrated. Since he seems to love freeze dried salmon treats, we decided to try freeze dried food. Bingo! Squirl attacked him like he was hungry, which he was. We're careful not to add a lot of water and leave lots of crunchy bits so he gets that freeze-dried texture and he likes the food and gains weight again. We also have a friend who swears by raw food and says it's the best pet food. I'm just glad Squirl is eating real food again! (Note: if Squirl shows even the slightest sign of illness and is only eating treats, we'll take him to the vet in no time).
