I bought this umbrella stand because I liked the idea of being able to easily move our umbrella without having to lug around a heavy iron base or unscrew the base from the deck. The stand is made of light, thin metal, but seems solid enough. The legs extend far enough that I think they will do a good job of holding the umbrella upright. However, this stand will not fit a standard sized umbrella. The hole is too small even with the rubber insert removed. You must have a custom/smaller parasol for this stand to work. I assumed all umbrellas and coasters were standard sizes, but I learned my lesson from that. Measure before ordering!
