Too much material good for me

These fit at the waist but there is way too much fabric making them indeed "poofy" as another reviewer wrote. The front is gathered and somewhat cute with the pockets but it looks like a poodle skirt from the back. They also looked longer on me than they look in the picture. I got the smallest size so can't exchange for another to see if that would help. The fabric was also thicker than expected and very wrinkled in the bag. I expected it to be softer and drape better. For reference, 5'2", 105-106 pounds, 35.5 hips.

Needed something to wear around the yard this year and these are perfect and comfortable

I just had a C-section and was looking for some loose comfy shorts for summer. I''m 5''4" and currently 140lbs. I ordered a M, my usual size, and the legs were tighter than I wanted so I exchanged for a L. Now the legs fit but there''s to much material and is kind of baggy. The material isn''t soft enough to let the extra fabric hang well so it''s just kind of awkward. I can make them work but kind of awkward.
