I have these for hooking one end through steel D-rings bolted to the four inside corners of my pickup truck's side panels. Then thread the straps out from under the edge of my cabin-high RV hull. This creates external loops at the base of the hull for ratchet hooks to attach canoes on the roof of an RV and truck cab (hull and cab have no roof racks). This system is much simpler than fiddling with attachment points on the chassis. The shell clips right next to where the straps pass underneath. The "deep" profile of the straps, despite being four-ply sewn in the middle, is small enough that the rubber grommets between the shell and the side rails still fit snugly - water doesn't get in either side. my big downpour rides today.
