Review on Westinghouse Lighting 101000 Saf T Ceiling by Matt Watkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as advertised but beware of sensible pitfalls

Device works as advertised but there are a few issues. You need to make sure your hole has some spacing between the joists. There may be a problem with the pen sensor. Insulation in the attic can get in the way, so keep that in mind, especially if it's blown. It was real pain. I used an existing lamp hole that was only 3" in diameter and needed a 4" diameter hole so your application may need to be cut. Since it was an existing mount, the old mount had to come out. It was some work, but I used a trick to remove it without having to service the attic (what's the point of using this device?) You'll probably be working from stairs, so this presents some obvious ones too Problems. Now that it's done I'm glad I did and the ceiling fan doesn't wobble an iota even at high altitude. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the tutorial video doesn't really address what most would consider the common sense I outlined above. Going to the attic and doing it directly might be easier for some than doing this, but it's a smart way to get some solid ceiling fan support.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Protection
