Sunline Fine Float vs P-Line Hydrofloat

I bought this line specifically for winter steelhead fishing. I used a P line float but it had a tendency to freeze. The Sunline Fine Float is very slippery and tends to shed water better than the P-Line and the amount of ice retention is significantly less. Another benefit of the Sunline's smoothness is that it casts farther than the P-Line. The only downside I've found with the Sunline is that it's so slippery that it tends to slip off the spinning reel spool. To fix this, I rewound the line and soaked the end of the spool in warm (about 120 degrees) water for five minutes. This seems to have helped. P-Line Hydrofloat and Sunline Fine Float are excellent swim lines, but in my experience Sunline is the best choice for cold weather conditions.
