What not to do: Fruit and veg tools

I needed this food slicer to slice strawberries for a pie. it literally broke after 3 strawberries. The plastic securing the knife to the base is cracked and broken. It's pretty cheaply made. Can it still be used? With a little tweaking (I was in a dilemma with this cake) I could still use it BUT you didn't need "Mickey Mouse" as a brand new item. I would not recommend this product.
