Review on 🪖 Stainless Steel Helmet Chin Strap Adapter with Ratcheted Quick Release Buckle Kit by David Lusk

I wanted to like this quick release, but I feel like this iteration is more of a prototype than a finished product. As mentioned in other reviews, the latch on the female quick-release end disengages too easily. This causes a security problem. If the strap is not fully re-tightened at the chin, the D-rings can wiggle to release the clasp on the female end, causing it to fully open! The latch should be replaced with a captive screw that doesn't easily unscrew, which I did. I drilled out the locking knob and replaced it with a swivel nut and bolt. You can even lock the screw to make it even more secure. The quick release itself is sturdy and this part seems secure but unfortunately this snap is currently ruining the entire product. Although this is a good start. If they can replace that button with something more semi-permanent for their next release, then it should be a five star product. But as it stands, I can't recommend this quick release for security reasons.
