I bought this napkin set for Christmas but was disappointed they didn't have a backing. Each napkin was simply a rectangular piece of cloth with the edges folded over and sewn together. This lack made them fragile. I bought green fabric and cut out 6 identical rectangles, ripped all the existing stitching on the doilies and sewed the fabric to the back of each doily. This gave them a more finished look and made them more durable. The pictures below show the back of the original napkin (no backing) and the back after I sew the back on.
