Review on 🍷 Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pump with Vacuum Bottle Stoppers (Black) - Preserve Your Wine Longer and Prevent Oxidation by Nale Dunn

I'm tired of buying Houdini pumps just to get two new plugs, so I decided to give these a try (Houdini has 3 o-rings and offers the gold standard for sealing/vacuum - that's the Houdini on the right in the picture). With the Vacu Vin, the resistance of the piston changes so little during inflation that you cannot tell whether a vacuum is being created. Not knowing if it was working, I had to keep holding it to my ear to listen for air as I unplugged it to see if a vacuum had formed. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. After drinking wine, who wants to think about how to stopper the cork? Definitely pushing the cork in firmly creates a decent vacuum and I found the seal held throughout the night. I've tried Vacu Vin on 3 different types of wine bottles and it works slightly better on some types of bottles than others. Bottom line, I will only use the Vacu Vin with cheap stuff. Otherwise, I will use my Houdini corks for as long as they last.
