I bought an aftermarket Pioneer H/U version in my 2015 Silverado. It's garbage. Much more of a headache than just connecting a Lightning USB cable. Every time I use Maps or try to send a text message with Siri, it turns off. If I just listen to music it's not that bad, it will still drop out but not as much. There is a delay of approximately 1 second when using the steering wheel controls or touching the touch screen. Not so hot what's up. Actually starts faster than I thought. Just a little longer than when I use a Lightning cable. Nothing bad either. It's just constant power outages that I can't live with. I also noticed that the album art looks different in Spotify than in regular CarPlay. The background behind the album art just softens instead of blurring the album art like regular CarPlay does. Again, no big deal, just thought I'd mention it. I took a chance with all the mixed reviews. I thought it might not be that bad, but it is. Also, I couldn't switch to other sources while it was connected to my radio. If I switched to a regular old FM radio, it would toggle for a few seconds and then switch back to CarPlay. Same thing happens when I switch to the front camera, it turns on for a few seconds and immediately goes back to CarPlay. It's also a bit sluggish for my taste. Refund started, will send it back tomorrow.
