So I used wood shavings I bought at a local feed store. I started using these paper bedding for our guinea pig. I mixed this paper litter with Carefresh small animal litter (sold separately). Our guinea pig has a large cage. Since switching to paper bedding, I've noticed that I don't have to clean my guinea pigs' cage as often. Paper shavings have less odor and higher absorbency than wood shavings. I highly recommend purchasing Carefresh Small Pet Bedding and mixing the two bedding together. Now I only change the sheets every week and a half. I also like this bedding because it is lightweight. I bought a large plastic container for bedding. I haven't found a good package that doesn't have the sheets falling out when you open the package.
