Review on Cateck Bus Powered Aluminum MacBook Laptops by Jason Lockwood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Update to replace older slower hubs but unusual at first

This hub replaces one I've been using for a long time because it was the old slow USB format. My old one was a Belkin hub with 5 ports in the back and 2 in the front for easy access. It came with a large transformer so as not to overload your computer if you happen to plug in more than one device that requires more power than your computer's bus can provide. In the case of Catec hardware, it's an attractive little box that tries to achieve the look of an Apple keyboard or hardware trackpad, with a brushed aluminum finish and circular inlays on the sides. The front panel features three USB 3 ports and two SD card slots. It has a handy non-slip rubber base so if your table is glass it won't slip when you plug something into it. drives and want to copy data between them. If you intend to do this, you will need to purchase an additional DC adapter (wall plug) that will power the device. So I did. This makes the device more expensive by a few euros. What I noticed is that the block got hot when I first plugged it in. And none of the SD card slots worked. When I inserted the card, I received nothing. I've tried this many times and still nothing. So I decided to reset it by unplugging and plugging back the main USB cable on the back. For some reason, and I have no idea why, it worked. SD slots suddenly worked for the first time. Having these slots and three USB ports on my desk is a very handy thing, and since I've unplugged and plugged it back in, I haven't had any issues with it. Strange, but now it works properly. I'll give it some time and see if it holds up as well as the old Belkin model that they no longer make. The thing was at least 10 years old and still ticks.
