I bought this tape out of curiosity as I am familiar with its shape and its dated ability to pull out and retract the tape at the push of a button. worked) and many different brands and types of roulette passed through my hands. I really like the self-locking mechanism, but this one doesn't work smoothly when the trigger is pressed = I had to help it with a simple gravity rule to make sure it could get back in. This tape has only one great future for me and that is 1/16 inch detailed markings every 1/16 inch = I'm finally learning 1/16 inch scale. So this roulette is just good for that. What I don't like is the price; The same style, same length (16 feet) is about $6 at Menards and works great, not to mention you can replace it for free if it fails with normal use. The next thing that's annoying (for me at least) is that the tip of the tape measure is too big and snags/hangs in places where a Menard brand would normally unlock smoothly. Also, the metal blade is very soft and twisted or broken very easily. For me this roulette is very expensive and not worth the money. To update; on 09/02/17 the measuring tape broke; however, I've gotten very used to it, especially the 1/16 inch ratio is marked, and the price is much friendlier now, so I'll buy another one.
