This works well for what I need, which is controlling the incubation of my yogurt, both high in the cook phase and low in the chill phase. I'm not sure about the environmental sensor. During the cooling phase, the sensor is in the hot milk and the ambient sensor is outside the container (which is closed), all in the fridge. The sensor is accurate as the milk exits the first phase at 180 degrees and the sensor confirms this, but during the cooling phase the ambient temperature sensor reports the fridge is running at 77 degrees which is clearly not the case. So, is the problem that the environmental sensor is too close to the target and thus affected by the temperature of the target, or is there a problem with heat dissipation from the sensor body? I will update this if I use it to monitor a smoker. This is probably more than what it was designed for and will be updated when I have more data to compare.
