These towels are comfortable to the touch but not suitable for the gym as they rub your face, neck etc and wipe the sweat very well. It's like one of those quick-drying towels for wet hair, but if you wipe your face with it enough, it feels like you're rubbing your face until it's damp. I would not order these again. The material is not what I need. They are just not compatible with sensitive skin like the neck and face and they made me feel like my skin was breaking out. and yes, I washed them first (more than once before use, and no, I didn't use them more than once between washes, and no, I don't sweat much or exercise for hours. I sweat normally and exercise about at a time one hour). Hope that helps!
