This is a quality bit, especially for the price. It is finely finished, balanced, versatile. Note that this bit only cuts grooves, not pin ends. If you are not using a bearing guide, you must calibrate the depth accurately. In other words, the saw cut becomes the ends of the pins and it is possible to cut too deep or too shallow. Now I have two styles of splicing tips and I prefer the one-piece tip of this style because it cuts all surfaces of the joint. therefore pins and grooves always have the same depth. It's not the fault of the beat, just personal preference. I believe that a drill like this has some advantages in terms of flexibility and more cutting edges. I'm giving 4 stars because this bit is good value for the money and does what it's supposed to do. However, I would think twice before doing it again before doing it again. I had to piece together some fancy 4 inch scraps of cover to make a length I had short and found that making my own finger joints was a strong but labor intensive product. This was difficult because the offset between the right and left cuts had to be precise enough for the profile to fit within the grinding area. Joining blanks before milling would be much gentler. This saved me from ordering and waiting 8 weeks for a different length of case.
