Review on πŸŒ‘ Zassenhaus Augsburg 7-inch Salt & Pepper Mill/Grinder Set in Black Finish, Made from Beech Wood by Jessica Prive

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality set perfect size 7 inch

I am very happy with this grinder set. prior to this set in China which had a number of minor issues and annoyances ranging from moisture penetration to grinding issues. This set is made in Germany (NOT China!) and the difference is immediately noticeable in many ways. First, the mills look great. I love the contrast of the wood and steel but they can be in different styles if you like. Second, the sharpening mechanism works beautifully and sharpens much smoother than my old cheap set. Make sure you tighten/adjust the metal caps on the TOP! They are NOT designed to adjust the grind setting - the fine/coarse grind is controlled by the white knob on the bottom.*** Many of the problems reported by users will be resolved caused by humans. I just don't understand the previous 2 sentences as most coffee grinders don't work that way. Also, these grinders block moisture much better than cheap grinders. Moisture makes salt stick together and pepper spoils faster. The grinders are made from high quality German ceramic so they will not rust or tarnish and hopefully won't break or crack. In addition, they come in a variety of grinds, from (almost) powdery to very coarse. That's why I chose it over the Cole & Mason set (made in China) and other sets in this price range. Finally, the 7-inch size is big enough to hold a decent amount of salt or pepper while not being bulky and unwieldy like some of the big sets. I found two very small design issues. are identical except for the letter 'S' or 'P' engraved on the top cap. Dinner guests (and you) don't need to examine them carefully before using/handing them over, so there should be a much more obvious way of doing this to do distinguish them. One solution is to order different colors - white for salt and black for pepper. Also, Zassenhaus needs to make the metal on the top cover thicker. wouldn't the ground crush them? In any case, salt and pepper are used on a daily basis, and if you're cooking at home, I think you should do it for your own sake to get a good (non-Chinese) cutting kit.
