First of all, I have to stress that these stones are NOT particularly easy to use (it's not that easy to wet them and scrape along the knife β be sure to read how best to use them or watch (a few) YouTube videos for a demo!). But once you get the hang of it, these stones can be invaluable for resetting your blade (especially an Asian knife blade) and keeping it sharp over time. My husband used the wrong sharpener on one of our Asian blades by making indentations on the edge of the blade. I got it as a gift :-) to correct his mistake. It took us about an hour the first time, but we were able to fully repair the blade and regain its sharpness and sharpness. Now that we've done it successfully, I don't think it will be long next time. Overall, despite the time involved, it's a lot cheaper than buying a new (good) knife. I definitely recommend it.
