Spring-loaded base doesn't work for me. Having soap and water on a brush is like a recipe for mold or a split brush handle. And it's difficult to squeeze that brush and try to dip it into the soapy mixture. Many people complained that the brush became splayed and ugly. I think this may be because you have to tap when trying to put some soap on the brush. try to make foam in a container. All you really have to do is dip the brush in the dish soap, scrub the dishes, and you've got suds. I bought a full round sink for my dish cleaning pad and sat my hand brush on it to dry between uses. Then turn it upside down in the hideout to store it. I leave half an inch of dish soap at the bottom of the soda reservoir and just dip my brush in when I need liquid detergent for a deeper clean or for a big load of dishes. I have the Farmhouse dish soap and it works pretty well with a hand brush for a quick clean. So I just removed the spring loaded foam platform and everything works fine.
