Dirt and dust never seem to get through the outer purple screen (pictured). I've been using this filter for a while now and it gets messy on the outside, but the inner mesh and hepa pleats are literally flawless. This means all the really small particles get stuck in different parts of my vacuum and I had to clean the entire hose and suction area many times. Not a true multi-stage filter. Also, because this filter appears to be less permeable, vacuum suction is slightly worse. I'm going back to real Dyson filters, painful as the price is.
