You must use two cables: an HDMI cable for video and a USB cable for power. Can be powered by laptop USB port. The HDMI connector on the monitor is mini HDMI and comes with a mini HDMI cable. Image quality isn't as vibrant as my laptop's high-end display, but that's also part of the cost. For the money this is a good buy if you just need something portable to work with. I use it to have an extra display for my laptop when I'm working indoors rather than at my main desk. It is excellent for this purpose. I also use this display temporarily for Raspberry Pi servers which I don't normally use. I've had some issues with the pi 3 math module (which I think is actually a pi issue) but it works fine with older Raspberry Pi B+ models and newer Raspberry Pi 4 models.
