Review on 🎢 Enhanced Audio-Technica AT-VM95E Dual Moving Magnet Turntable Cartridge in Green by Jerardo Yatnalkar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Difficult installation for a beginner. If this is you, read on!

So I bought a HeyDay turntable (it's a Target brand but got great reviews). Included was Audio Technica 3600L. This is the "Middle Path" cartridge. It's not bad and I would do well to stay with him. But without knowing how to install, align, adjust, etc. a new cartridge, I knew I risked ruining it and my turntable (LOL!). First, now that the "journey" is over, it's amazing! The sound isn't a little bit better, but a lot better. The sound envelops you. It's so complete and clear. The separation of all instruments is also striking: bass, guitar, keyboards, drums and vocals. Before that, everything seemed to be "merged". Not random, but sounded very "mediocre". Now the sounds are really noticeable. It has taken my turntable from middle of the street to a very respectable one! Here's what I recommend if you're considering buying or have one on the way: 1. Take your time! Remove the screws from the existing cartridge and carefully disconnect the four wires from the pins on the back of the cartridge.2. Make a note of where the colored wires are connected so you can reseat them correctly in the new cartridge.3. Look on YouTube"Tuning the player cartridge". It took me about 30 minutes to get it right. But if I had to do it again - it would be much shorter!4. Watch the videos showing how to adjust the arm weight and anti-skate knob. This reduces distortion jumps etc. Eventually it really got noticeably better as I played through 4-5 albums in full. Something more seemed to open up (ie: it was hacked). I would take it without hesitation. I understand it's expensive but definitely worth it.

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
