This is not a cheap machine. If you're looking for cheap, there are better options. After I bought it, I had some buyer regrets because of the price. I've been using it for a few weeks now and it works MUCH better than the alternatives, I'm glad I made the purchase. It has all the power of the Foodsaver benchtop units (maybe a little more), but is fully portable thanks to the rechargeable battery, which means I can get all the work done without lugging open packets of wet food around the kitchen. It's many times more powerful than a small battery powered foodsaver and works with all the valve bags I've tried. The pistol shape is comfortable and easy to use even with my arthritis. The charging cradle is designed to take up minimal countertop space, while a hinged lid protects the tool and electrical contacts from dust and spills. A drawback is of course that the bags are not cheap! But if you still use these resealable valve bags (e.g. for vacuum cooking), it's simply the best tool for the job.
