Gauge Set takes the guesswork out of using eyepads. I have yet to remove the wheels because there isn't enough room in my mesh wheels and I'm hand inserting this as well to get that into the caliper. But there's plenty of room on my daughter's five-spoke wheels. So I just changed the tires and checked where the rest of the brake pads are. I think it would be a good idea to use this gauge the first time I change my pads to see how much play I have compared to when I checked. Every pad is different and having a baseline, when I'm at 50% or below I know I need to start thinking about buying a new set of brake pads. But it's certainly better than trying to see it with your eyes or waiting to hear a grinding noise, that's for sure. I would definitely recommend this set if you're someone like me who swaps out their brakes and rotors. This gauge is just hidden in my drawer where all my brake switches are.
