I find it funny that these radios are called "Pro Business"; We use them when we camp to keep in touch with our son. This is a brilliant amazing tool for that purpose. We usually stay in our camper for about a week no matter which campsite we go to and usually our son takes one of his best friends with him. Although we always accompany them to the lake or pool, they often enjoy going to the slot machines or the playground or playing with friends they have met, and we give them that freedom for the most part; One restriction is that they must bring their walkie-talkie and keep it turned on. This Cobra PX880 has the signal strength and power to communicate with you anywhere on a large campsite. The effective range of the PX880 is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles; I have no idea where those "12 miles" came from. Maybe this would be the case in space, but not with trees, buildings and so on. I have not verified the 20 story claim as I do not know where in my entire state a 22 story building is located. Next time I'm in the Nakatomi building I'll do John McLane and give it a try. :^) They are so light, small and understandable that it is convenient for them and us to call the kids home for dinner or just to check in. The perfect camping tool to give kids some freedom without always having to face them (or them in ours!).
