I had a small painted wood cabinet with a bad smell of rotting food, although the bad food never touched or oozed the cabinet itself. I thoroughly cleaned and washed the cabinet and the smell was reduced but remained. I attached one of these deodorants to the inside of the closet using the sticker that came with it. It was quite difficult to peel off the coating on both sides of the sticker, which the instructions refer to as double sided tape. I closed the closet and left it closed for two days, I didn't notice any reduction in the bad smell. The deodorant also fell to the side of the closet floor and broke off a sticker that was stuck to the side of the closet. So I threw away the deodorant. Maybe it would work better in the fridge, but I'll never know. I asked the salesperson if it would work in the closet and they said yes. In this case, at least, they were wrong.
