In general, this is a good product. However, we found that if you have a small side spout for pouring salt, after a while we never used it as a shaker again. For cooking, it was just easier to pour. And then there's the reality that at some point you try to use it as a shaker and the spout opens and you drown the food in the salt. So who needs it! And if all you need is a shaker, then why bother. The only reason we stopped using it was it fell off the stand and the top broke off (the metal plate plus the plastic it was screwed to). So a small deduction for the not very long shelf life as it now has to be thrown away.
