Really mediocre for work but elegant

I am a landscaper who uses self-propelled mowers on a daily basis. I bought them a week ago and so far they have held up well in terms of quality with a few issues. They're pretty cheaply made, but the price should tell you that. I bought a black pair with tinted lenses and in terms of sun protection they are about as good as the plastic ones you would buy at a dollar store. The band itself works quite well, it hasn't moved or loosened for me. That little metal rod that goes between the lenses? After twenty minutes on the lawnmower, he pulled away. I don't even ride like a motorcyclist, the top speed I got was probably 10mph and on closer inspection I could see why it was so easy. It's only held in place by two small slots that it is inserted into and a tiny hole at each end that snaps into a small metal spike that's too short to hold it in place. Then there's the face fitting: no matter how tight I make them, they just don't fit my face exactly. A sharp gust of wind always tickles my eyes when I'm mowing, and while I thought it would help to tuck a bandana in the space to fill it, it just fogs up the lenses like crazy. Grass and dust also seep in. Even without a headscarf, they often shoe me. Also, the strap is quite thick so my ears get bruised if it slips too low on my face. Earmuffs help with this, but I can't put my regular baseball cap on at the same time because the strap is too low and presses on my ears. So far, wearing a hat has solved this problem. I understand why people love them for cosplay and I love driving around looking like a steampunk worker. So far I am satisfied but I doubt they will last long.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine
