I think there is an inherent problem based on ratings and reviews read online that the aging of the failure of the gas cap will result in an unexpected and catastrophic failure where the plastic parts hold the two halves of the gas cap snap together and, depending on luck when tightening the gas cap or attempting to unscrew the gas cap, can become permanently stuck to the side of your vehicle. Anyway, once it breaks, it will be stuck forever and you may need needle nose pliers to remove the remaining gas cap from your car's gas tank. If your old gas cap didn't light up the check engine light, I strongly recommend that you keep the old rubber O-ring from the old gas cap as insurance for a few months in case the new one doesn't make a perfect seal, then you can replace it . Rubber sealing rings. Anyway, this genuine Motorcraft FC-1060 OEM precision gas cap seems to fit my old 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid perfectly. There is still no check engine light to indicate a loose gas cap. I will update this review if anything changes. Product rating five stars!
