Easy installation if you follow the instructions. Requires 3 screws, not included. All you have to do is drive two screws into the wall 3 1/2 inches apart and leave them sticking out about 1 inch. Hang the mailbox on these two screws. Mark the screw and insert it into the middle hole for the third screw. This keeps it in place and prevents it from falling off the wall. Tighten all screws so they ONLY sit in the metal, do not over tighten. Yes the back will not be flush with the wall but the sides will be. Add wood or anything else as suggested by others. That's all. Dead easy. As for the quality, I think it's great. I looked at some other mailboxes at Lowes that are twice the price and the lids were light and looked like they could bend easily. This lid is nice and strong and seems like it will hold up. You need this size, I think you will be satisfied.
