It took my dog a while to love this mat but when he did he was hooked! A few thoughts below: The size is perfect for my small to medium sized dog. She weighs 25 pounds and fits perfectly curled up on a mat. You can easily feel the twists through the carpet, but they are thin enough that I don't see this as a problem for them. The dog doesn't eat things like string, it's comforting to know he can't go through with it if he chooses to. It's very easy to use. There are three buttons on the dial: on/off, increase and decrease temperature. The temperature is displayed digitally so you know how warm it is. The max temperature is 135 degrees which feels CRAZY warm but my dog won't move off this pillow when it's that warm! It's perfect when we come back from winter hikes! In general, I wasn't sure for the first few days because my dog didn't quite understand. But once we showed her how warm and cozy it is, she loves it! He has some nice qualities that make me comfortable leaving her alone with him. Very happy!
