Before I had the perfect ball mat, I built a ball court surface for my office with artificial grass and sand added to the surface to increase speed. A polypropylene carpet lies on my individual laying service. The polypropylene mat rolls more precisely and faster than my custom surface. (A polypropylene rug works better directly on the floor.) I wish I had found a polypropylene rug first!. I use a polypropylene mat with an eye-line mirror that I bought separately. The lines on the PP mat let me know if I launched the putt online and if I hooked or cutter spin the putt if the putt missed the hole. The fact that the last foot of the putt is uphill contributes to acceleration during the putt. I highly recommend.
