Review on ๐Ÿ’ผ Sleek and Durable: Tightwad Black Carbon Fiber Money Clip for Style and Savings by Jason Stokes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Makes me smile every time I use it!

The only thing better than this money clip is the Tightwad customer service. I've carried a small leather money clip with slots for my driver's license and several credit cards for many years. When the very last one started fraying around the edges, I decided to try something different. Many hours of searching has led me to purchase this and another very expensive titanium money clip from another manufacturer. I was hesitant to pay money for any of them but decided it was worth finding a reliable solution. They both arrived in the same week and I planned to use one for a couple of weeks and then switch to the other to compare. The first was Tightwad Carbon Fiber. The first impression was that it weighs almost nothing. $80 for a money clip that feels like a piece of paper in your hand. I was a little nervous. The way it opened to load money was unique and I liked the low profile which combined with the light weight barely disappeared in my pocket. For the next two weeks, I smiled every time I paid for something or got a license. A satisfying "click" when the content is removed. Easily switch content back to Tightwad. His ability to hold even a single bill. I loved everything about it. When it came time to switch to a different money clip, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I honestly put it off until I forgot it all together. And then one day tragedy struck. I paid for the item in cash and a few extra bills were required for change. While I was careful not to overwhelm him at first, my vigilance slipped and I went too far. I heard a soft "crack" as the now large wad of money and cards was placed back on the stack. Of course, the ends no longer touched when empty. Denial of what just happened, anger at myself for going too far, haggling, believing I'll always keep it full enough, stretched shape doesn't matter, sadness when contents fell out for the first time, and finally the acknowledgment that this wasn't the clip I liked so much. He was dead. The only consolation was a very expensive second money clip that I haven't used yet. I've been using a competitor for several months and it's been very good. The capacity is at least twice that of the Tightwad Carbon. The titanium makes it light and always keeps its contents safe. I never liked using it. The flex on one side to let money/cards through has never bothered me in the past, but after Tightwad I could swear I could feel it with every step or felt my jeans bunch up when turned inside out. I missed the stingy experience and felt guilty for violating it. I was sure my only option would be to pay for a new one, but decided to write to the company if it could be fixed. I told them what happened, took responsibility and asked if there was anything I could do to fix the problem. I received a reply the same day saying they were keen to send me a new one and asking for pictures of the broken one. My new Tightwad Carbon Fiber arrived in just a few days. Excellent service. Outstanding product. I still smile a little when I use it. Spend the money (don't overcharge) and you'll love it too!
