I've had these rosette rails for decades; but my last purchase was from Snap-On in 2006. I have about twenty guides total, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". They used to be made with "pins" on which the socket slid. The old pin system is fine. New ones Production...like my 2006 Snap-On units - use a molded plastic spring clip and I honestly HATE it.The clips hold the socket in place enough that the spring clip snaps out of the guide.I then have to pre-thread the spring clip digging out the end of the socket I can snap it into the socket on the ratchet Spring clips are beyond useless they're downright annoying breaks I have a dozen rails that are now shorter than they should be Protoco needs the design of the Rethink splints or the material they are made of to increase durability, do you damn them for the horrible spring clips? Or am I saying I have some splints that are twenty years or older and still work (despite being shorter than now in new condition) and my good old pegs work a hundred great? When I last spoke to Protoco (a few years ago) the pegs were still in stock, although there is no guarantee of brittle rails. They guarantee my broken rails and make the pegs a standard item, this review gets five stars. The idea is great, but the execution is lame.
