I bought this mic because I already have a Rode Videomicro and needed a second compact mic for dual camera recording. So far I'm satisfied with the results after two months of testing and to my ears the sound quality seems to be on par with my Rode Videomicro. I haven't heard a significant difference. One thing that drew me to this particular mic was the simple, off-the-shelf vlog setup. The phone holder and mini tripod looked very handy and compact. When I received it I was very impressed with the quality of the material and workmanship. It is very durable and the tripod ball head snaps in well without unwanted slipping. I love how firmly the phone mount holds my phone. My only complaint about the phone holder is that it's a bit fiddly to open - it takes a lot of turns of the grip to expand it enough. A very small thing and I'm glad to be done with it because when you tighten it back up it holds the phone in place. I have oneplus 6. It's a big phone and it fits great. The shock mount is also solidly built. The plastic is fairly stiff, noticeably stiffer than the Rode Rycote mount, so I think it can transmit a sonic boom, although I didn't realize it affected my testing. I love that the mount fits a standard cold shoe, but it also has a thread on the bottom so it can be placed on a tripod or tripod. The microphone itself is an all-metal construction and is very similar to the Rode Videomicro, only slightly longer. . Not only does it include a dead cat windsock, it also comes with a black foam sleeve. The black cover is a bit unobtrusive, so it's spent more time with the mic in my previous use. I haven't tried it in very windy conditions, but both cases worked the same for me. As I mentioned at the beginning, I didn't notice any significant difference in sound between Comica and Rode Videomicro. Both sounded great to me and way better than my camera's built in audio. The trigger pattern seems ideal for my video recordings. Love the fact that none of the mics require a battery - just plug and play. One note: I had to turn down my camera's audio gain to avoid clipping/spikes. (I wish my Oneplus 6 could do that too!) The carrying case is a nice bonus, but I didn't use it much because you have to fold the phone's cradle to put it back in. Lots of twisting and turning. All in all a good microphone at a good price. It's natural to compare it to Rode Videomicro and it holds its own against it. Although the Comica is a bit more expensive I felt it was worth it for all the quality accessories that came with it. I would buy it again if I needed a third mic.
