Go ahead and get the foot control to be safe
I've had trouble keeping the remote synced with the motor and very much recommend the foot control as an option to have. I've found I use the foot control more than the remote. If your battery is low you can expect this product to not perform well. Mine will start up then constantly quit so you have to restart. Both batteries that I have are new and from different manufacturers. Which is the other thing. You'll most likely need two batteries. The one I have is a power hog. Does pull the boat well but it uses the power.
