Design Fiasco - Microwave Ovens

So first the good news. It's nuclear, it's relatively powerful for its size, and it has plenty of interior space given its compact size. At the same time, buttons, logic and programming functions are a design fiasco. Do you really need 5 loud beeps after each cycle - all beeps are always loud and cannot be turned off. It would be nice if the beeps turned off when I open the door so I don't wake up the rest of the household while I'm heating up breakfast at 5am. How about backlit keys that are barely visible? There is no power level indication other than holding down the power level switch for 2 seconds - this could easily be integrated into the display. Why do I have to press the reset button before adding 10s/1min/10min? It looks like a lot of random, non-custom software design decisions made by a PCB programmer who had his own idea of how a microwave oven should work.
