This is a local Hawaiian expression (make is pronounced "makai") and means something is REALLY dead. And this thing really kills mosquitoes. I love it. USB charging is such a great feature, you no longer have to scream in frustration when it's 11pm and three vicious bloodsuckers are swarming your bedroom and you realize you haven't charged AAAs. I've used similar sticks in the past but nothing has been as strong as this one. It feels a lot stronger in your hands than the cheap ones, and this thing DETECTS the bug until it dissolves. You can smell his dead, charred body. Some might not like it, but I have lived on the islands for 20 years and can only say that I find this hiss very stifling. This is the best mosquito repellent pen I've ever had - I'm very glad I spent the extra few bucks.
